Average versus median is substantial with the median being $29,930 annually. That translates to between $159.64 and $82.00 per day that Americans are blessed with.
That is much higher than the poverty level of $1.25 per day (https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-17312819) for the balance of the world’s 116 countries that do not report.
We want to be your extension.
While most have never seen the needs of those that exist on $1.25 to $2.00 per day, those of us serving with DonateBeyond have. I personally have stood in Haiti eating fast food fried chicken while a 10-year-old with a pot belly, caused by malnutrition, stood and watched me. Had I given him a piece of chicken it would have made him sick, but I will never forget that day, the look on his face or the realization of how blessed I am.
We can help with poverty, but we don’t want just a quick fix. We want to help find sustainable solutions. Working with legitimate not-for-profits, which provide education, job training, jobs, economic incentives through micro-credit programs, and agricultural education can and will change lives in developing nations. These changed lives then change other lives.
